Patton Museum director discussing book at Barr

3rd ESC visits Kandahar Transient Yard

3rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) Public Affairs
Members of the 3rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) operations team visited the Kandahar Transient Yard, located near Kandahar Air Field, Afghanistan, May 4.
The Sustainers visited the KTY to get an assessment of operations and improvements to the facility.
Operated the by the 45th Sustainment Brigade, a subordinate brigade of Joint Sustainment Command (Afghanistan) and the 3rd ESC, the KTY is the initial screening point for supply vehicles entering the base.

The Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation’s Anderson Aquatics Center operates and maintains all of the pools on post and also the Falls Landing Mini golf course, located across from the water park.

NATO Summit focusing
on allied commitment

President Barack Obama met May 9 with NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen in the Oval Office to discuss preparations for the Sunday-Monday NATO summit meeting in Chicago, according to a White House press release.
Obama and Rasmussen agreed that the summit would focus on three important topics: Afghanistan, defense capabilities and partnerships, according to the release.

When he commissioned last spring, Josh Pitcher made a vow to his fiancée. He would be there to watch her walk the stage this spring at Eastern Kentucky University’s commencement.
The chances looked bleak when he was sent to Afghanistan with his 82nd Airborne Division unit earlier this year. Those chances appeared hopeless when the second lieutenant lost his foot in mid-April after he stepped on improvised explosive device while leading his platoon on an ambush mission.
