    “My Old Kentucky Home” isn’t just the state song of Kentucky; it’s an actual place in Bardstown. It is also known by its original name, Federal Hill.
    John Rowan, whose family had originally moved to Bardstown in 1787, married Ann Lytle Oct. 29, 1794 and the two settled on a 1,300-acre plantation near Bardstown. The land had been a wedding gift from Ann’s father.

    The NBA playoffs are in full swing, but that doesn’t mean the end of basketball for the year like it normally does.
    The 2012 Olympics have somehow managed to sneak right up on us from our peripherals and with the London games not being too far off in the near future, more question marks remain than they did in 2008.

    Some of the nation’s leading classic guitarists will gather at the University of Louisville May 24-28 for the UofL Guitar Festival and Competition.
    The five-day festival will feature concerts, master classes on technique and artistic development, lectures, a youth guitar orchestra and an international competition with a first prize of $1,000.
    Stephen Mattingly, UofL guitar instructor and festival director, said that the event is open to all enthusiasts and playing levels.

    Sources including the Bible, fairy tales and Shakespeare find their way into the 2012-13 season for Hardin County Playhouse and Hardin County Schools Performing Arts Center.
    For HCP Artistic Director Bo Cecil, planning a season means a balance of productions, allowing for a variety of tastes.
    “Whenever I design a season, I try to think of it as people going to a really nice dinner,” Cecil said. He equated the productions to different courses of a meal.
    The dinner begins Aug. 10 with a serving of “Seussical, The Musical.”
