Knox Hills, a partnership formed between the Department of the Army and Lend Lease, is proud to announce that it has reached a significant safety milestone of operating five consecutive years without a loss-time incident occurring throughout its more than 2500 home project. This milestone equates to 1.6 million work hours for the 120 Knox Hills’ employees.
“We could not have reached this goal without the work of our team and every member of the team knows that the record belongs to them and is a direct result their efforts,” said Dan Meredith, Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator at Knox Hills. “It is something that they can be proud to say that they achieved. We did it together” Meredith added that the goal was reached through a variety of ways, including education and empowerment of all Knox Hills employees as well as its subcontractors to look for safety hazards in their daily work and having the power to put a stop to something that they feel is unsafe.
“Each individual who performs a duty at Knox Hills is made aware of work hazards and other safety tips and techniques that play a vital role in ensuring the safety of each employee. Workers are trained and encouraged to look at and spot hazards on the worksite,” he said.
