Join Michelle Cuthrell, the author of “Behind The Blue-Star Banner,” at Fort Knox’s Barr Memorial library, Aug. 18. when Ms. Cuthrell will discuss her experiences concerning making the most of military life and deployment.
The program is free and will start at 6:30 p.m. Ms. Cuthrell will sign copies of her book following the program. A limited number of copies will be available for sale.
Special incentives for Blue Star cardholders will be available at the event and will include a drawing for an autographed copy of the book and a Barr Library tote bag.
“Ms. Cuthrell’s real-life experience living through multiple deployments is an inspiring story. Our author’s programs are about more than literature, they are about life and the challenges that one can face. I think her work as captured in ‘Behind The Blue Star Banner’ embodies what so many Families go through during deployment and gives a great insight into the feelings and challenges they face,” said Michael Steinmacher, the library director.
Ms. Cuthrell said that her family moved to Fort Knox the same week the Duke Brigade deployed to Afghanistan, and they will move again the same month the brigade returns. She wants to spend this year encouraging Families of deployed Soldiers the same way veteran military spouses encouraged her during her first deployment experience.
